There are plenty of gym jobs available, but how do you find them? You need a job search - but also there's more.
The first thing to consider when looking for gym jobs, is whether you have the right qualifications? Without qualifications you can work as a receptionist, for example, but to actually work with clients, instructing, teaching classes and so on, you will need some form of qualification.
For qualified instructors, there are all sorts of gym jobs available. The work is varied and can include working as a general fitness instructor, or teaching classes.
Fitness instructors perform a variety of duties including conducting fitness assessments, consultations and inductions with new clients. This involves explaining and demonstrating routines for new clients, showing them how to use the equipment safely and effectively, and, depending on the facility, supervising them while they work out.
You may also design individual workout programmes, or provide clients with advice on diet and lifestyle choices.
Teaching classes adds more variety to your day, with some of the most popular being things like circuit training, various keep fit classes, Aquacise, and yoga.
This type of work requires appropriate training and qualifications - the best recognised qualification is the Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing.
There are plenty of providers offering training courses, so be sure that whatever course you take leads to a widely recognised qualification of this sort. With the right qualification behind you, your job search will be much easier.
